Yes! We remove all dairy and animal products throughout the cleanse. This cleanse is also gluten free.

We would love for everyone to be a part of Fresh Start , but we understand that it’s not for everyone. Since we are not doctors or nutritionists, please check out the two free samples of the Spring and Autumn editions. This will give you a better idea of the whole, natural foods that are included in our recipes. By consulting your healthcare provider, they will know what’s best for you, personally.

Pregnancy is not the ideal time to start a cleanse. Although our cleanses are nutrient rich and nutritionally balanced, they are also detoxifying. Toxins released during these cleanses can pass through to your bloodstream and breast milk. Instead, focus on nourishing your body and your baby. Feel free to include green smoothies and other recipes as part of your normal daily diet. The same principles apply if you’re breastfeeding. Many expecting and nursing moms still join the cleanse for the meal plan and have found success by skipping week two (the most detoxifying week) and following the meal plan in week one and three, which include gluten-free grains, legumes, and an option to add eggs and fish.

Anyone who is ready to start making healthy eating a part of their lifestyle and not just a diet. Taking the burden off the liver for a few weeks and plying yourself with real, nutrient-rich goodness will take you from healthy to amazing! Our resident holistic nutritionist, Meg Thompson, recommends making cleansing a regular part of your health care regime several times a year to renew, recharge and reset the body. Your body will love you for it!

Our meals are nutrient-rich and therefore give back to the body, and will balance your blood sugar, keeping your energy at a steady flow. Rather than focus on calories, It’s much more important to focus on having good quality protein, healthy fats and loads of vegetables and fruit to get all the goodness that you need.

Calories are deceiving and not the basis for determining what is healthy. For example, if something is low in calories, it’s not necessarily good for you. In fact, it’s often the opposite. Food that is low in calories, like a piece of white bread, is not only void of nutrients, it saps extra nutrients from your body to process it. It also turns to sugar once it’s digested which then contributes to weight gain. Change it to a wholegrain bread and add some avocado or nut butter, and suddenly you have something much higher in calories, but a slow burning fuel that will continue to serve your body for hours.

These programs and step-by-step meal plans were designed to help you create health and happiness on your plate. That’s why we’re super excited to partner with Meg Thompson, an amazing naturopath and holistic nutritionist, and Lindsey Johnson, a food photographer and recipe creator, for these 21-Day Cleanses geared to help make simple, quick and nutritious meals for you. These recipes will seriously rock your tastebuds!

Your grocery bill will likely be higher than usual, but please … don’t freak out! You’re investing in your health… and you’re worth it! Here’s how we think about it: you can either pay more upfront for fresh produce and real whole foods, or pay down the road in poor health with medical bills. It’s an easy choice once we lay it out like that, right? So don’t give yourself a hard time over a slightly higher grocery bill. And what we’ve noticed is it eventually balances out by week two after you’ve bought all your staple ingredients that you’ll use during and beyond the cleanse.

I’m a busy, work-from-home mama myself, so I totally get it. If you’re not used to cooking meals from home, you’ll need to carve out some time over the weekend to prep. It does take an extra time commitment— I’m not gonna lie. With our meal plans and weekly shopping lists, we take the guesswork out of “What’s for dinner?” We recommend starting the Spring or Autumn cleanse when you don’t have too many major events going on back-to-back, especially during week one. You’ll want to have time in your week to rest and nourish your body.

You will eat + drink your way through the 21 days! Both of these Fresh Start plans are complete cleanse guides with a step-by-step meal plans, that include green smoothies for breakfast, and whole foods the rest of the day (including snacks and cleanse-friendly beverage recipes).

Weight loss does not happen in the same way for everyone. It’s dependent on an individual’s genetics, hormonal balance, past history, metabolism, fluid balance and exercise regime. Weight can also be tied up in emotions. It’s a complex one. Remember that this program is about a fresh start for your body – you’re working towards the best version of you possible, and that’s about much more than weight loss. Any long lasting change takes time to establish, and healthy eating is no exception. If you stick with it, you’ll eventually see results.

    I was nervous going in to my cleanse, 21 days is a lot to commit to! I was afraid that I was going to die without coffee (seriously) and I thought I was going to starve, and hate eating bland food. I was wrong on all accounts. Honestly, there were days that I didn’t eat everything because I was too FULL on amazing, delicious food! All of the recipes were delicious, and my favorites are actually still in my regular rotation now! This 21 days changed how I shop, what I buy, how I cook, and how I live. I cannot recommend this cleanse enough, you will NOT regret it!!

    I can’t thank you enough for all the hard work you guys have done for the Spring 2017 edition of the 21 day cleanse. This is the third year in a row that I have done the cleanse and have made it part of my life.     I love love Fresh Start 21! The plan is so well thought out and helps you with sticking to the guide. From the shopping lists, the prep guides, and the super easy to follow recipes. Everything is so delicious and easily adaptable to fit to your own perfect taste. I love the beautiful pictures of all the tasty recipes as well!     Fresh Start 21 has been such a positive learning experience and an overall amazing experience for me. I am honestly disappointed at myself for not participating sooner!

    At the beginning of my journey to clean eating, I didn’t have the best eating habits and I was over weight, extremely moody and tired all the time. I had crazy cravings for black licorice, other candy, and salty foods. I desperately needed to kick those bad habits to the curb and adopt some new and healthier habits for my life. This cleanse helped me to do just that! At the end of my 21 days I am happy to say that I have lost 10lbs and my energy has increased big time..I feel and look better than I have in a long time! And no more crazy cravings! Unless of course you count the craving for my new favorite smoothie…Citrus Beet!

    Fresh Start 21 is easy to follow and easy to stick to. The SGS team has thought of everything and included everything you need. You get info on the cleanse, shopping lists, prep lists, menu plan and the recipes. It takes all the guess work out of it on your end. And the recipes are mouthwatering and oh so delicious!

    The other tool that was such a positive experience for me was the group page on Facebook. I met such wonderful people from all over the world that I now consider my friends.     I had dark lines under my eyes, slept badly, woke up tired, dragged myself through each day drinking too much coffee and eating snacks. I was ready for a change and Fresh Start 21 was just what I needed. Here are a few of the reasons why I am recommending Fresh Start 21 to all of my friends and family:

    1) You are not alone. Jen and her team are doing Fresh Start 21 at the same time, along with an amazing group of people who all share their experience and support each other on a private Facebook group.
    2) Fresh Start 21 is simple and easy to follow. The cleanse comes with shopping lists, prep advice, and detailed recipes.
    3) The culinary experience is amazing. I loved the variety of ingredients, the flavours, the texture of the recipes. The recipes also included combining ingredients that I would never have imagined could taste so delicious together. My husband and kids loved the recipes.
    4) Fresh Start 21 is also a challenge. As a double espresso drinker, I found it particularly difficult to give up coffee for 21 days. We all struggled together with withdrawal, temptation, physical and emotional pains.
    5) Thinking about food and nutrition for 21 days made me focus on other mindless habits in my life. This has given me the opportunity to rethink my priorities, focus on finding daily me-time, and leading a healthier life.

    This has helped me realize how important it is to be mindful of what you put in your body. I have more energy, sleep better, and just feel so much better in general. This really woke me up to the fact that when you are eating healthy you are fueling your body. I am confident that I’m able to kick my 3 or more cups of coffee a day habit that really did not do anything for me!     Truth be told, I was terrified to give up coffee. And milk. And cheese. And sugar. My fear and stubbornness to even TRY to give up those things kept me from doing a cleanse sooner. But I decided to do this one because at least I could eat real food. If I snuck in some coffee and sugar no one would have to know. Ha.
    HOWEVER, magic happened. After the first several days I didn’t WANT coffee. I easily passed on sugar. And milk and cheese were hardly missed. I felt amazing without feeling restricted. Most of the recipes in this cleanse were DELICIOUS. I even learned to make friends with coconut and kale, which I never thought would happen.
    My skin is clearer. I feel lighter overall. I lost weight even though that wasn’t my goal, and my clothes fit looser. The brain fog I wrote off to “getting older” has cleared. I have energy to work out (which has been an ongoing struggle for years). My afternoon caffeine headaches and energy plummets are no more. And one of my biggest wins is my boyfriend is eating more healthy foods because he tried some of the recipes and enjoyed them. He typically is NOT a healthy eater. Veggies used to be his nemesis, but this cleanse changed that.
    I’m a wholehearted believer in the SGS team. These gals know what they’re doing. Their plan was easy to follow and the support from the FB group was so helpful.
    Fresh Start 21 really has changed me in so many ways for the better. I’m excited to keep going with their smoothies every day and trying more of their recipes.

I stuck to this cleanse the entire time, doing everything suggested, and I can truly say I am changed. I really didn’t believe that 21 days of eating whole foods would really do that much for me, since I typically eat healthy-ish (vegan) most days, but wow- I am 100% a convert. Not only did 10 extra pounds slide right off (with almost no exercise at all!), but I feel motivated now to continue eating the same way.

    Let’s be honest though- I did take a week to read through the cleanse guide and all the recipes before I began (which I recommend too!!) to acclimate myself to my future 21 day regimen, and I was nervous. Very nervous, actually. I’ve never had much problem sticking to a cleanse, even if the food was not great, but I wanted this to be something different. I didn’t want to dread eating meals every day for all 21 days. I didn’t want to have to talk myself into pushing harder every day just to finish. And I didn’t have to do those things with Fresh Start! As soon as I began, I could tell that the meal plans were thoroughly thought out, not with weight loss necessarily in mind, but with the conscious planning of people who love nutritious food and really know their way around a meal plan! Even with my minimal dedication to food prepping, I have hardly struggled at all! The variety of the meals is great- who wants to eat leftovers for more than a day, right? With Fresh Start, you get to look forward to new meals daily, which keeps you on track and excited for each new meal! I had doubts about a lot of the meals, mainly because I’m not a huge fan of: coconut, cilantro, beets, etc… but I promised myself I would push through and eat exactly how the meals were planned out… And SURPRISE! I liked everything. No joke. Everything. There were a few meals that weren’t my absolute favorite, or some that I added hot sauce to (because I have a hot sauce addiction), but no meal ever made me dissatisfied or disappointed. In fact, I gained a lot of knowledge about assembling meals with whole foods and even learned a lot about myself and the foods I love and didn’t even know it! Cilantro and pineapple in a smoothie? Yum!!! WHO KNEW?? (Well, the Fresh Start team did, of course.)

    Thanks go out to all of the Fresh Start 21 Cleanse Team. You guys are amazing! Thank you for all the hard work you put in to making this such a well planned and delicious program. I have suggested it to every one I know and think that this is probably the best money I ever spent on myself, on my health. I am very excited for my future of conscientious meal planning based on whole foods- especially my first meal after the cleanse! Guess what I decided on??? Rawsome Tacos again! 🙂 From now on, all of my tacos will be raw!

    I was nervous going in to my cleanse, 21 days is a lot to commit to! I was afraid that I was going to die without coffee (seriously) and I thought I was going to starve, and hate eating bland food. I was wrong on all accounts. Honestly, there were days that I didn’t eat everything because I was too FULL on amazing, delicious food! All of the recipes were delicious, and my favorites are actually still in my regular rotation now! This 21 days changed how I shop, what I buy, how I cook, and how I live. I cannot recommend this cleanse enough, you will NOT regret it!!

    I can’t thank you enough for all the hard work you guys have done for the Spring 2017 edition of the 21 day cleanse. This is the third year in a row that I have done the cleanse and have made it part of my life. The prep tips are an unbelievably huge help and the recipes are even more fantastic than the past few years. I can see that you have all put many many hours of work into improving an already great plan. I am only in week 1 and am so excited for the next two weeks.

    I love love Fresh Start 21! The plan is so well thought out and helps you with sticking to the guide. From the shopping lists, the prep guides, and the super easy to follow recipes. Everything is so delicious and easily adaptable to fit to your own perfect taste. I love the beautiful pictures of all the tasty recipes as well! The support and direction from the SGS crew is amazing as well. No disappointment with this purchase at all, definitely worth every penny!

    I have all of the meal plans through Simple Green Smoothies and they are all wonderful. This new Fresh Start Spring is definitely my favorite for cleansing though! The meals are so AMAZING that you don’t even feel like you are cleansing! I am in fact still cooking these recipes in my kitchen and loving every minute of it! Thanks Jen & Lindsey!     Twenty one days can be a life-changing event. I use to wrestle everyday wondering what to eat. I have changed my outlook on food and now feel life I have an easy life plan on how I plan to eat.     Fresh Start 21 has been such a positive learning experience and an overall amazing experience for me. I am honestly disappointed at myself for not participating sooner!

    At the beginning of my journey to clean eating, I didn’t have the best eating habits and I was over weight, extremely moody and tired all the time. I had crazy cravings for black licorice, other candy, and salty foods. I desperately needed to kick those bad habits to the curb and adopt some new and healthier habits for my life. This cleanse helped me to do just that! At the end of my 21 days I am happy to say that I have lost 10lbs and my energy has increased big time..I feel and look better than I have in a long time! And no more crazy cravings! Unless of course you count the craving for my new favorite smoothie…Citrus Beet!

    Fresh Start 21 is easy to follow and easy to stick to. The SGS team has thought of everything and included everything you need. You get info on the cleanse, shopping lists, prep lists, menu plan and the recipes. It takes all the guess work out of it on your end. And the recipes are mouthwatering and oh so delicious!

    The other tool that was such a positive experience for me was the group page on Facebook. I met such wonderful people from all over the world that I now consider my friends. Everyone was so friendly and helpful. Every day we held each other accountable, helped each other out as much as possible, and made each other laugh. It was really an empowering feeling! I am thankful to each one of the them as well as Jen and the SGS team. You guys RAWK!!

    I am 100% committed to continue on this healthy journey I am on right now. I have zero regrets and I am excited to see what my future of clean eating holds!

    I had dark lines under my eyes, slept badly, woke up tired, dragged myself through each day drinking too much coffee and eating snacks. I was ready for a change and Fresh Start 21 was just what I needed. Here are a few of the reasons why I am recommending Fresh Start 21 to all of my friends and family:

    1) You are not alone. Jen and her team are doing Fresh Start 21 at the same time, along with an amazing group of people who all share their experience and support each other on a private Facebook group.
    2) Fresh Start 21 is simple and easy to follow. The cleanse comes with shopping lists, prep advice, and detailed recipes.
    3) The culinary experience is amazing. I loved the variety of ingredients, the flavours, the texture of the recipes. The recipes also included combining ingredients that I would never have imagined could taste so delicious together. My husband and kids loved the recipes.
    4) Fresh Start 21 is also a challenge. As a double espresso drinker, I found it particularly difficult to give up coffee for 21 days. We all struggled together with withdrawal, temptation, physical and emotional pains.
    5) Thinking about food and nutrition for 21 days made me focus on other mindless habits in my life. This has given me the opportunity to rethink my priorities, focus on finding daily me-time, and leading a healthier life.
    6) Having completed 21 days, I am now 10 lbs lighter, I sleep 8 hours a night (without waking up), I wake up energised, my skin is elastic and smooth, and I feel 10 years younger.
    7) Going forward: No more coffee for me – I am now a spiced almond drink convert! I will also be incorporating many of the Fresh Start 21 recipes and habits into my new life!

    This has helped me realize how important it is to be mindful of what you put in your body. I have more energy, sleep better, and just feel so much better in general. This really woke me up to the fact that when you are eating healthy you are fueling your body. I am confident that I’m able to kick my 3 or more cups of coffee a day habit that really did not do anything for me! I’ve been rawking the green smoothies for a while now and I love having new recipes! You will not regret this, and you will be so happy you challenged yourself! Give yourself a Fresh Start!!

    Truth be told, I was terrified to give up coffee. And milk. And cheese. And sugar. My fear and stubbornness to even TRY to give up those things kept me from doing a cleanse sooner. But I decided to do this one because at least I could eat real food. If I snuck in some coffee and sugar no one would have to know. Ha.
    HOWEVER, magic happened. After the first several days I didn’t WANT coffee. I easily passed on sugar. And milk and cheese were hardly missed. I felt amazing without feeling restricted. Most of the recipes in this cleanse were DELICIOUS. I even learned to make friends with coconut and kale, which I never thought would happen.
    My skin is clearer. I feel lighter overall. I lost weight even though that wasn’t my goal, and my clothes fit looser. The brain fog I wrote off to “getting older” has cleared. I have energy to work out (which has been an ongoing struggle for years). My afternoon caffeine headaches and energy plummets are no more. And one of my biggest wins is my boyfriend is eating more healthy foods because he tried some of the recipes and enjoyed them. He typically is NOT a healthy eater. Veggies used to be his nemesis, but this cleanse changed that.
    I’m a wholehearted believer in the SGS team. These gals know what they’re doing. Their plan was easy to follow and the support from the FB group was so helpful.
    Fresh Start 21 really has changed me in so many ways for the better. I’m excited to keep going with their smoothies every day and trying more of their recipes.
