I've made this Strawberry Banana Green Smoothie almost every day for the past year. I guess I am kinda like my dad— when you find something that works, why change it up? It only has five ingredients (and one being water), doesn't take much food prep, and tastes very yummy (seriously). My kids even ask for it! It's such a proud moment as a parent when kids are craving fruits and veggies over processed foods. It doesn't happen every day, but it does happen a LOT! We've combined four of our favorite fruits for this smoothie – and it's a yummy one! The flavors are bright and sweet, and it's full of fruity goodness. As far as nutrition goes, this smoothie offers up a bundle of antioxidants from vitamin C-rich oranges and strawberries, to potassium-loaded bananas, and anthrocyanin-packed blueberries. And don't forget all the vitamin K and iron in the spinach.
- 2 cups spinach (fresh)
- 2 oranges (peeled and seeded)
- 1/2 cup water
- 1 cup strawberries*
- 1 cup blueberries*
- 2 bananas
- Blend spinach, orange juice and water until smooth.
- Next add the remaining fruits and blend again.
*Use frozen strawberries and/or blueberries to make smoothie cold.
**You can also use 3/4 cup water and 3/4 cup orange juice in place of the oranges and 1/2 cup water.
Tip: Thanks to the blueberries, this green smoothie is more like a purple smoothie, which is great for kids and those who are afraid of the “green” color.
