Cilantro isn't just for your guacamole and salsa! We love blending cilantro in our green smoothies. Adding this leafy herb brings a unique flavor to this sweet and creamy detox green smoothie.
Cilantro, also known as fresh coriander, helps the body naturally get rid of heavy metals and other toxins. It's high in vitamin K, which is important for blood clotting. Also, cilantro is a good source of vitamins C and A. (Don't worry – if you're someone who can't stand parsley, you can substitute parsley. It doesn't have quite the same benefits that cilantro has, but it's a great replacement.)
We've added some of our favorite tropical fruits – mango, pineapple, and avocado. They add natural sweetness and make this extra creamy and delicious. Not to mention, the dietary fiber from the greens and fruits helps keep things moving along in the digestive tract. The healthy fats from the avocado help keep you feeling full and satisfied, but also help the body absorb nutrients from the other ingredients.
Drink this yummy detox green smoothie for a great start to your morning, as a snack, lunch, or even for dinner!
- 1.5 cups spinach fresh
- .5 cup cilantro fresh
- 2 cups water
- 1.5 cups mango
- 1 cup pineapple
- .5 avocado
Blend spinach, cilantro, and water until smooth.
Next add the remaining ingredients and blend again.
Use frozen fruit to make this smoothie cold, or serve over ice.
