Fourth of July is just a few days away and I'm still trying to figure out exactly what we are doing.
I know a BBQ is a must and so is our slip n slide. As for food— that's usually up in the air until the last day or so. Well, not this year— I want to have some healthy and easy snacks to go along with this 30-Day Green Smoothie Challenge! I spent some time finding some simple and healthy recipes that I could make for our 4th of July bash and I just couldn't resist sharing them with you too.
The first is this mouth watering Blueberry, Strawberry, and Jicama Salsa. It's so simple, fresh and the color combination is just perfect. I will be making a big bowl of this to have out with chips.
I want to have a green smoothie station setup to have a refreshing and nutritious afternoon drink and also spread the word about green smoothies. We will have bowls of fresh fruit and mounds of leafy greens for party goers to choose from and add to our trusty Vitamix. To go along with the patriotic theme, we will be using Strawberry, Banana and Blueberry Green Smoothie recipe which happens to be our first green smoothie love.
Rather than using paper cups, I plan on getting out the mason jars and paper straws to top off the look and help everyone keep track of their smoothie creations. I love the tags and twine that they added to these ones. (Once the night it over, I will soak that jars for a while to make sure they come out real clean.)
For this simple treat, cut a watermelon into tiny wedges and insert a popsicle stick in one end. Dessert doesn't get much healthier and simple than this watermelon treat.
